The cannabis industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors in America, and 2022 is set to be another year of massive growth. As such, many employers in the cannabis industry are looking to hire for all sorts of positions, and attending a career fair is the best way for you to land one of these great jobs. This is a huge part of what we do at EzHire Cannabis and we see it all the time, people we are desperate to get into the industry, this is one of my biggest recommendations is to attend one of these Career Fairs.

The cannabis sector is understaffed right now and desperately needs qualified candidates. As such, all sorts of cannabis industry careers are up for grabs this year. Whether you're looking to find an entry-level position as a trimmer or budtender, a management position with a dispensary, or a career working on the agricultural side of things as a grower, you’ll be able to find what you’re looking for at a cannabis career fair.

In this article, we will go over four excellent reasons for why you should attend a cannabis career fair in 2022 and look at some of the benefits you'll enjoy by doing so.

#1 - You can practice your interview skills

Getting a job interview isn't exactly difficult. All you have to do is prepare a great resume and cover letter and send them out to employers who are advertising jobs. The hard part is actually landing the job, and to do that, you need to know how to interview. The problem is that most people aren't comfortable in job interviews; after all, it's not something you do every day.

By attending a cannabis career fair, you can practice your interview skills with a bunch of different employers so that after the first couple of interviews, your jitters will be gone, you'll be more comfortable, and you'll be able to present yourself as someone who's confident and capable. In other words, you'll be able to stand out from the crowd of nervous candidates and set yourself up for success.

#2 - You can find many employers in one room

Searching for a new career is time-consuming, and it takes a lot of work. Sending out resumes, answering phone calls, attending interviews, and everything else that goes into landing a job is a process that can take months, but you can dramatically reduce that time by attending a cannabis career fair.

When you attend a cannabis career fair, you'll have access to a ton of different employers who are all looking to fill cannabis jobs urgently. This means that instead of attending one job interview in a day, you can attend many on the same day, which will exponentially increase your odds of landing a great cannabis job.

#3 - You can network with people in the cannabis industry

Networking is crucial when you are looking to break into an industry. By meeting and connecting with other individuals who are interested in the cannabis industry, you can learn a lot, get job opportunities, and possibly even make some new friends. So, be sure to speak with other jobseekers while you're at the career fair; you never know – one of them could land a job and pass your information along to their new employer. It happens all the time.

#4 - You can walk out with a great new cannabis job

Most importantly, when you attend a cannabis career fair, there's an excellent chance that you'll leave with a new job. Remember, all of the employers who are attending the career fair are looking to hire people ASAP. Whether you're looking for a job as a budtender, a dispensary manager, or a grower, you'll be able to find all sorts of different cannabis career opportunities at a career fair.

Assuming you’ve got a great resume, know a bit about the industry, and are able to interview well, there’s a good chance that you might land several job offers while attending a cannabis career fair, and so the hardest part might just be deciding which offer you’d like to accept, which is a great problem to have.

Some tips for attending cannabis career fairs

Attending a cannabis career fair is a great way to get a new and exciting job in the cannabis industry, but remember, you won’t be the only jobseeker at the career fair. You can do a few things to stand out from the crowd and give yourself the best chance of success.

Let’s look at a few tips that will help you succeed at a cannabis career fair.

#1 - Dress for success

Keep in mind that a career fair is not much different from a job interview. There's a great chance that after you introduce yourself to an employer, they will want to interview you right there on the spot. So, treat the career fair like you would a job interview. Make sure you are dressed up and that you look professional; this will make a huge difference.

#2 - Have a business card

Remember that networking is just as important as interviewing, so print off a few business cards that contain your name, phone number, email address, and experience. By handing out business cards, you can land a job in the future, and it's also a great way to meet like-minded people who are also interested in the cannabis industry.

#3 - Don’t be high

Also, don't make the mistake of thinking that because it's the cannabis industry, it's okay to be high. A bartender wouldn't go to a job interview drunk – it's just not a good look, and it's not professional. Your goal should be to present yourself as someone who's knowledgeable about the industry but responsible and respectful.

Final Thoughts

The cannabis industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the country, and 2022 is set to be another year of unprecedented growth. Presently, there are more jobs in the cannabis sector than there are qualified candidates to fill those roles, and as such, employers are looking to fill these jobs with interested applicants such as yourself.

You could scour job boards, send out a ton of resumes, and hope for the best; you might be able to get a job this way. But if you want to start working in the cannabis industry right away, then your best bet will be to attend cannabis hiring fairs where you'll have access to a ton of employers under one roof, employers who are there specifically to meet with, and hire you.
